What Should Be Done When Mosque (Masjid) Furnishings Are No Longer Needed?
Is it permissible to move things that have been endowed to the mosque (Masjid), such as cupboards, if the mosque (Masjid) gets too crowded and the mosque (Masjid) no longer needs them?
Praise be to Allah.
Yes, it is permissible to transfer to another mosque (Masjid) things that have been endowed, if that serves a better purpose. If the mosque (Masjid) no longer needs something, such as furnishings, cupboards, etc., we can move them to another mosque (Masjid) if possible, otherwise, we can sell them and spend the money on the mosque (Masjid).
If these furnishings were supplied by the Department of Awqaf, then the Department should deal with them, and do what is best.
